Paediatric First Aid



Paediatric first aid at work (PFAAW) 2 days, (12 hours) 

or Paediatric emergency first aid (PFA)1 day

Certification 3 years, Ofsted requirements, Qualsafe Awards approved and Ofqual recognised.

This course meets the new guidelines from November 2014 . Ofstead now require those working in the early years setting to be first aid trained to level 3.


The two day course focus’s on emergency situations encountered by professionals and carers looking after children and babies. This course meets the criteria outlined by Ofsted.

The 1 day course is aimed at providing basic but essential first aid ( does not include the highlighted topics)
Contents:

  • Role of first aider.
  • Managing a first aid situation.
  • Health and safety guidelines.
  • Resuscitation (BLS adult child and baby) with defibrillator
  • Choking (adult child and baby).
  • Recovery position and secondary survey.
  • Wounds dressings and bleeding.
  • Reason for and treating the unconscious casualty.
  • Childhood conditions e.g meningitis and croup.
  • Temperature control
  • fractures sprains and strains
  • head injuries and spinal injuries
  • burns
